A collection of photos and memories from the places of our past.

Many of us share a collective history of time spent in the same places, times and building. Whether we knew it or not, we spent a lot of time in the same places and watched them come and go. This site is devoted to those places, and the memories we share there.

There aren’t too many rules here, some of the places listed are even still around. The idea is to have some fun. The website is the companion to the facebook group.

With 300 plus photos posted and a lot of locations randomly located in the facebook group, I thought a place to list what we have so far would be good. There are also places I might want to go off into more detail on.

  1. Would love to see a pic of FLB north, off 26th Avenue…where the Kent cleaners was located in the 1950s. Also any pics of Utopia Parkway from FLB heading North

If it’s the southeast corner there is still a cleaners there now, although I think it has a different name. Will try to get something up there!

FYI, the photo linked to Elephas on Bayside is not a pic of Elephas. It is not even in Bayside, it says Whitestone. Elephas was on Northern Blvd. at around 210 street. It was where one of the Son of Sam shootings occurred (outside of it). One of the ones that survived…

  3. Anyone interested in Queens historical pictures should really go to the Sunnyside Chamber of Commerce web site. They have alot of historical pictures of the Sunnyside, Woodside and Long Island City area. Excellent place to see historical and interesting pictures.
